This is the English translation of All’origine della pretesa cristiana (Jaca Book, 1988).

The text, preceded by a brief editorial note, opens with a Foreword (pp. VII-IX) written for the present edition by David L. Schindler, Professor of Fundamental Theology at the Pontifical John Paul II Institute for Studies on Marriage and Family of the Catholic University of America in Washington, and editor of the review “Communio”.

The Foreword is followed by the author’s preface, an unpublished text written specially for this publication (“Preface”, pp. XI-XII).
