The volume is the translation into portuguese of a part of Il rischio educativo. Come creazione di personalità e di storia (SEI, 1995). As in the Italian edition, the text opens with the preface by Nikolaus Lobkowicz (Prefácio, DIEL, 1998, pp. 5-12; SEI, 1995, pp. VII-XI), followed by the author’s Introduction written in June 1995 (“Introdução”, pp. 13-36; SEI, 1995, pp. XIII-XV).

The “Primeira Parte” (pp. 37-146) presents the introduction complete and three chapters of “Il Rischio educativo” (DIEL, 1998, pp. 39-127; SEI, 1995, pp. 5-56), while the chapter titled “Seguimento” (1998, pp. 129-146) corresponds to the chapter “Sequela” in “Parte seconda. Viterbo 1977” (SEI, 1995, pp. 59-69).

The “Segunda Parte” (1998, pp.147-192), divided into three chapters, is a selection of the remaining writings. The chapter “Una definição de educação” (1998, pp. 149-152) corresponds to “Educazione alla libertà” (SEI, 1995, pp. 149-151) and is part of “Educare è proporre una risposta a una domanda che vivi tu” (1998, pp. 152-155; SEI, 1995, 109-111). The section “Educar è comunicar-se a si próprio” (1998, pp. 155-157) is “L’educazione è comunicare se stessi” (SEI, 1995, p. 84). The “Capítulo Segundo” titled “O educador” (1998, pp. 159-162) presents two questions from “Dialogues” (“Insistenza”, SEI, 1995, pp. 158-159 and p. 162). Chapter III, “Os factores costitutivos de educação” (1998, pp. 115-124) contains the paragraphs “L’ideale” and “Vita di comunione” (SEI, 1995, pp. 84-91) in the section “Viterbo 1977”. The last paragraph “Os frutos do processo educativo” (1998, pp. 183-192) contains part of “Educazione come cultura comunicata” (1998, pp. 183-187; in “Insistenza”, SEI, 1995, pp. 135-137) and part of “Educazione alla libertà” (1998, pp. 187-192; “Insistenza”, SEI, 1995, pp. 151-154).
